Seventies supergroup with hits such as the YMCA and In The Navy.
The Village People are synonymous with the seventies Disco era. Ask anyone who they were and they'll probably be able to rattle off some crap about the Indian, the builder, the cowboy, the policeman, the biker and the Army officer.
  
  
The fact that they look more like a group of male strippers did not deter record sales, infact it probably helped them to achieve number 1 hits such as "In The Navy" and the classic party hit "YMCA". Everyone knows the actions to that don't they? It was this very fact that led them to become favourite contemorary gay "icons". Their status lives on with the song being played at every wedding, christmas party and rubbishy student bash from here to eternity!
