Tetris

First programmed in 1985 by Alexey Pajitnov, Dmitry Pavlovsky and Vadim Gerasimov at the Russian Academy of Sciences, neither dreamed that Tetris could become such a world wide phenomenon.

When the first game was released free of charge in 1986, the game only had 4 colours. The rights were later bought by an American company who distributed the game. Below is a tribute to the original game by Xin Yang.

Instructions: Arrange the falling blocks to create a row, score more points for each successive row that is created.
