In 1980, the game was acquired by the Midway company who, changed the name of the game to Pacman after fears that vandals could easily change the P in Puckman to form an offensive word.
By 1985, the game had earned its place in the history books by selling over 300,000 machines to arcades worldwide. There follows the World of Kitsch tribute to one of the most popular and recognisable games in history.
