Breaking box office records for the time, 1963 saw the release of one of the finest musical extravaganzas ever to grace the silver screen, Summer Holiday! Sir Cliff Richard, a long standing kitsch figure, stars as Don, a garage mechanic from London who converts a disused London Bus into a hotel for the ultimate road trip across Europe. Don and his mates soon find a famous American pop star stowed away on their bus and a journey begins filled with singing, dancing and a little romance!
The film was a phenomenal hit in 1963 and even today is still an internationally recognised classic with a musical spin off in London's West End theatre distrcit. With hits including the infectiously tuneful "Summer Holiday" sung by Cliff Richard, the film has firmly established itself in kitsch history.
