Roswell

Following an incident in 1947 in the desert just outside the town of Roswell, USA, the town soon became synonymous with UFO sightings and the infamous Area 51. This was largely due to the apparent cover-up operation which took place shortly after the event, including the mysterious disappearance of key witnesses and unsatisfactory explanations by military personnel.

Although little, if any evidence has been presented to confirm the presence of Alien life, many still believe the crash of the unidentified aircraft was an extra-terrestrial event and this has fuelled the growth of this picturesque yet small town in the New Mexico (USA) desert. With growth and tourism came the inevitable development of kitschy and tacky souvenir shops, themed hotels and bars, fuelling its position as the UFO capital of the World.

With an unprecedented occurrence of UFO (Unidentified Flying Object) sightings, Roswell has firmly gained its place as one of the kitsch wonders of the World.
